Original Oil Paint Monoprints
The Monoprint Story
I started exploring monoprinting as a way of “blind” drawing. It’s a wonderful way to remove acute self criticism from the creative process.
It’s a simple technique used by artist Paul Klee, where a sheet of paper spread evenly with oil paint is placed face-down onto a surface. Marks made on the paper are then transferred to the surface.
This gallery shows my first attempts, (including messy smudges!) and how I’m continuing to perfect the technique as I practice.

Typewriter Series One
The vintage typewriter holds great significance for me.
An unusual symbol of my childhood, I would lug the heavy thing around the house, every pound on the cumbersome keys reverberating through the furniture and floorboards.
I created important music reviews (probably of Adam & the Ants) for the school newspaper, a prize winning “living history” piece comprising of an interview with my Nan and the first flourishes of a screenplay when I was fifteen years old.
Typewriter Series Two

The Typewriter “Barely There” series of original prints take their titles from adapted lines from George Orwell’s novel “Keep The Aspidistra Flying”. The ten prints explore my struggles with social anxiety and seclusion, and how it is through artistic expression that I’ve found a voice.
